Rosemary Rotuno-Johnson

Rosemary Rotuno-Johnson, Ph.D., is a special education scholar and teacher educator whose work focuses on democracy, inclusion, and differentiated instruction in K–12 schools. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Miami University in 2009, completing a dissertation titled “Democracy and Inclusion: A Critical Pragmatic Analysis of the Discourse of Differentiated Instruction.” Her earlier academic work includes a manuscript on conceptions of “madness” from an episteme of desire, produced at Miami University in 1984.

Rotuno-Johnson has served as an Assistant Professor in the TEAM-MSE program at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati and is identified as a Teaching Professor in the Special Education Department at Xavier University’s School of Education. Her research interests include democracy and education as they relate to special education inclusion. She is a contributor to The IEP Checklist: Your Guide to Creating Meaningful and Compliant IEPs (second edition), where she is listed alongside Clarissa E. Rosas, Kathleen G. Winterman, and other collaborators.
