Rosemary T. Wong

Rosemary T. Wong is an American educator, author, and publishing executive best known as co-author of The First Days of School: How to Be an Effective Teacher, now in its fifth edition and widely recognized as a best‑selling resource on classroom management and effective teaching. A native of Louisiana and a graduate of Jefferson Parish Public Schools, she earned an undergraduate degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, a Master of Education from Louisiana State University, and a doctorate from Brigham Young University. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in East Baton Rouge Parish, later becoming the first teacher selected as a mentor teacher in her California school district.

Wong is the CEO of Harry K. Wong Publications, where she is the primary force behind the development of educational books and tools for teachers. In addition to The First Days of School: How to Be an Effective Teacher, she has co‑authored The Classroom Management Book and numerous journal articles on effective teaching and classroom management. Her work and leadership have been recognized with honors including the Upton Sinclair Award, Distinguished Alumnus awards from Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University, the Silicon Valley Distinguished Woman’s Award, the Silicon Valley Woman of Influence Award, and a commendation from the Jefferson Parish School Board for her contributions as an educator and philanthropist.
