Roxanne F. Hudson

Roxanne F. Hudson is a professor of special education in the College of Education at the University of Washington, where she focuses on literacy and reading difficulties. She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Florida (2002), a Master of Education in Exceptional Children from Western Washington University (1994), and a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Political Science from Gonzaga University (1989). Her academic and research roles have included associate and assistant professorships at the University of Washington and prior research faculty work at the Florida Center for Reading Research.

Hudson is a contributing author of the Teaching Reading Sourcebook (Core Literacy Library), a widely used, science-of-reading–based reference for evidence-based reading instruction. Her scholarship includes co‑authored work on reading fluency assessment and instruction as well as research on effective reading instruction for struggling readers and bilingual students.
