Rudolf Dreikurs
Rudolf Dreikurs (1897–1972) was an Austrian-born American psychiatrist and educator. He earned his medical degree from the University of Vienna in 1923, collaborated with psychologist Alfred Adler on child-guidance and mental-health initiatives, and emigrated to the United States in 1937. He later practiced in Chicago, taught psychiatry, and helped establish Adlerian institutes in Chicago and Tel Aviv.
Dreikurs developed Adler’s ideas of individual psychology into practical approaches to child behavior, education, and family relationships. His books include Children: The Challenge, written with Vicki Stolz, Psychology in the Classroom, A Parent’s Guide to Child Discipline, and Maintaining Sanity in the Classroom.
