Rusty Bresser

Rusty Bresser is an educator and author specializing in inquiry-based science instruction and mathematics education for elementary classrooms. He has more than twenty years of experience as a K–8 classroom teacher and has served as a lecturer and Supervisor of Teacher Education in the Education Studies program at the University of California, San Diego, where he teaches math and science methods courses for preservice teachers. He also works as a professional learning consultant, facilitating math and science professional development with a particular focus on supporting English language learners and promoting equity and social justice in STEM classrooms.

Bresser is the coauthor of Becoming Scientists: Inquiry-Based Teaching in Diverse Classrooms, Grades 3–5 with Sharon Fargason, which explores how teachers can use inquiry science to engage multilingual and diverse learners. His other professional books include Math and Literature, Grades 4–6, Second Edition, Developing Number Sense, Grades 3–6, and Minilessons for Math Practice, Grades K–2 and Grades 3–5, all published by Math Solutions and focused on building strong mathematical understanding through classroom routines and short, targeted activities.
