Ryan Dunn

Ryan Dunn, PhD, is a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education, where his work focuses on teacher professional learning, educational leadership, middle leadership, implementation science, mathematics, and school improvement. He has over twenty years’ experience as an educational leader, teacher, and researcher, including more than a decade in primary schools before moving into leadership roles and academic work in professional learning and school leadership.

Dunn is the co-author of Developing Teaching Expertise: A Guide to Adaptive Professional Learning Design with John Hattie, which examines adaptive approaches to professional learning and their impact on school improvement. He is also a co-author of Teachers Who Lead: Practical Strategies for Building Responsive Teams, written with Pauline Thompson and John Allan Hattie, which provides evidence-informed strategies for building effective, responsive teams in schools. In addition to his writing, Dunn regularly works with schools and systems—in Victoria and internationally—to support middle leaders and professional learning teams in leading collaborative, evidence-based improvement.
