Sally J. Rogers

Sally J. Rogers, PhD, is a developmental psychologist and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, where she is affiliated with the UC Davis MIND Institute. Her research focuses on the early diagnosis and treatment of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders, and she is widely regarded as a pioneer in early autism intervention. Over her career, she has published extensively on clinical and developmental aspects of autism, including cognitive and social-communicative development and intervention in young children with disabilities.

Rogers is best known as co-developer, with Geraldine Dawson, of the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), a comprehensive naturalistic developmental–behavioral intervention for infants, toddlers, and young autistic children. Together they authored Early Start Denver Model for Young Children with Autism: Promoting Language, Learning, and Engagement and its revised second edition, Early Start Denver Model for Young Autistic Children: Promoting Language, Learning, and Engagement, which manualize the ESDM and are used internationally by clinicians and researchers.
