Sam Futrell is a middle school social studies teacher in Richmond, Virginia, and a board member of the Virginia Council for the Social Studies. She has over a decade of classroom experience, has served in leadership roles within VCSS, and has worked on professional development and curriculum-related initiatives for social studies educators.
Futrell is the coauthor of Mini Moves for Every Writer: Fifty Transferable Techniques for Writing Across the Content Areas with Rebekah O’Dell, a book developed from writing mini-lessons created for students during the COVID-19 period. Solution Tree describes her as a teacher with a master’s degree in history and leadership experience in Virginia education.
