Sangda Dorje

Sangda Dorje (1945–2020) was a Tibetan scholar, poet, calligrapher, and musician. He taught Tibetan literature at the University of Tibet in Lhasa, where he served as a professor of classical literature from 1985 until his retirement in 2009.

He coauthored Manual of Standard Tibetan: Language and Civilization with Nicolas Tournadre, a comprehensive introduction to spoken and written Tibetan that also includes material on classical literary Tibetan. Dorje also wrote Manual of Tibetan Poetics: A Feast for the Eyes and Mind, published in 1992, along with numerous articles on Tibetan poetry and language.
