Santy Gutiérrez

Santy Gutiérrez is a Spanish illustrator and cartoonist who grew up in Vigo and now lives in A Coruña, both seaside cities in Spain. Active as a professional artist since the early 1990s, he has worked extensively in editorial cartooning and caricature, earning recognition as Best Spanish Young Editorial Cartoonist and Best Galician Caricaturist, and is a founding member of the BAOBAB Studio artists’ collective.

Gutiérrez illustrates children’s and middle‑grade books as well as comics and press art, and is the illustrator of George Lopez and Ryan Calejo’s ChupaCarter series, including ChupaCarter, ChupaCarter and the Haunted Piñata, and subsequent titles in the franchise. Alongside his book work, he has a long career contributing cartoons, illustrations, and comics to Spanish newspapers and magazines, and has been active in professional illustrators’ associations in Galicia.
