Sara Kugler

Sara Kugler is a literacy coach and consultant based in Northern Virginia, specializing in elementary literacy and book clubs. She is the author of Better Book Clubs: Deepening Comprehension and Elevating Conversation (Routledge/Stenhouse, 2022), a professional resource for educators that focuses on using student-centered book clubs to strengthen reading comprehension and academic conversation in grades 2–6 and beyond.

Previously, Kugler worked as a staff developer with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project and as a classroom teacher in Brooklyn, New York. She currently designs elementary literacy curriculum and professional learning opportunities for Woodburn Elementary School in Fairfax County Public Schools, drawing on her experience to help teachers implement authentic, discussion-rich book club practices in their classrooms.
