Sarah Beck
Sarah W. Beck is a professor of English education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at New York University’s Steinhardt School. According to NYU Steinhardt, she is a former teacher of English and writing at the high school and college levels and earned her doctorate in Human Development and Psychology with a focus on language and literacy development from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2002.
Her research centers on writing instruction and assessment, adolescent writing development, urban education, and teacher knowledge. She is the author of A Think-Aloud Approach to Writing Assessment: Analyzing Process and Product with Adolescent Writers (Teachers College Press, 2018), and she has also published scholarly work on dialogic writing assessment and other aspects of writing instruction.
