Sean Cain

Sean Cain is an education consultant and instructional leadership expert best known as the co-author of The Fundamental 5: The Formula for Quality Instruction and The Fundamental 5 Revisited: Exceptional Instruction in Every Setting, both written with Mike Laird and additional collaborators on the revisited edition. The Fundamental 5 framework identifies core classroom practices that support highly effective instruction and has been widely used in schools and districts as a practical guide for improving teaching quality.

Cain spent the formative years of his career working in challenging instructional settings and advanced through instructional leadership roles, culminating in his position as State Director of Innovative School Redesign in Texas. He now serves as Chief Idea Officer for Lead Your School (LYS), a network of school leaders focused on improving student, campus, and district performance, and is a national presenter who trains educators across the country on translating educational theory into systematic, solvable practices.
