Shakiyya Bland
Shakiyya Bland, EdD, is a longtime math educator, curriculum specialist, and education equity advocate with more than 27 years of experience in PreK-12 mathematics instruction, curriculum coaching, and professional learning. She is the founder of the community-based nonprofit Center for Universal STEM and Humanities, the director of education for the LRM Foundation, and the director of educational partnerships at Just Equations.
Bland was an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow from 2020 to 2022, serving in the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Department of the Interior. Her published work includes culturally responsive mathematics lessons, strategies, and research, and she coauthored Building Family–School Partnerships in Secondary Math: A Guide for Teachers Grades 6-12 with Julitha Rials.
