Sharon Thomas
Sharon Thomas is a senior consultant at the Instructional Coaching Group (ICG) and a National Board–certified English teacher, instructional coach, student advocate, and writer. She coordinates or developed the ICG Coaching Certification process and leads or contributes to ICG workshops focused on improving instructional coaching practice. Thomas is also a consultant for the Touchstones Discussion Project, a Certified SIM (Strategic Instruction Model) Professional Developer in writing, and the founder of the Cecil County, Maryland Teacher Leadership Network. Her work on teacher leadership in school reform has been published in Principal Leadership, and she has presented at conferences across North America on secondary school literacy and teacher leadership.
Thomas is a coauthor of Evaluating Instructional Coaching: People, Programs, and Partnership (ASCD) and The Instructional Playbook: The Missing Link for Translating Research into Practice, both written with Jim Knight, Ann Hoffman, and Michelle Harris. These works provide frameworks, tools, and processes for designing, supporting, and evaluating effective instructional coaching programs and for using instructional playbooks to translate research-based teaching strategies into classroom practice.
