Sharon Vaughn

Sharon Vaughn, Ph.D., is a professor of special education at the University of Texas at Austin and the executive director of The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk, an organized research unit focused on improving educational outcomes for students at risk for reading and learning difficulties. She holds the Manuel J. Justiz Endowed Chair in Education and has previously been identified as the H.E. Hartfelder/Southland Corp. Regents Chair in Human Development, reflecting her longstanding leadership in the field of literacy and learning disabilities. Vaughn has served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Learning Disabilities and co-editor of Learning Disabilities Research and Practice, and she is widely recognized for her highly cited research on instructional practices for students with reading difficulties and learning disabilities.
