Sheila A. Eller
Sheila A. Eller, EdD, is a middle school principal in Mounds View Public Schools in Minnesota and an experienced K–12 educator and leader. She has previously served as a principal in Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia as well as in Illinois and other schools in Minnesota, and has worked as a university professor, special education teacher, Title I math teacher, and self-contained classroom teacher for grades 1–4. In Fairfax County, she led the transformation of a low-performing school that was not making adequate yearly progress, using professional learning communities, data-driven decision-making, and refined instructional strategies.
Eller is coauthor of Flip This School: How to Lead the Turnaround Process, which provides a framework and practical strategies for planning and leading school improvement and turnaround efforts, as well as Energizing Staff Meetings, Working With and Evaluating Difficult School Employees, and Creative Strategies to Improve School Climate. She presents nationally on topics including school turnaround, effective instruction, teacher evaluation, and teacher leadership. Eller holds a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from St. Cloud State University, a master’s degree from Creighton University, and a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University.
