Sheryl Murray

Sheryl Murray is a children’s book illustrator who grew up in a large, storytelling-focused family of eight children near Chicago, where she was known as the family artist and “drew on everything and everyone.” She earned a BFA in Illustration and has worked for many years as a freelance artist, including drawing storyboards for advertising agencies, producing handmade tile, restoring old houses, and exhibiting her ceramic sculpture across the United States. She now lives with her family in Portland, Oregon, where she illustrates books for kids.

Murray is the illustrator of Lulu and the Hunger Monster™ (Food Justice Books for Kids), written by Erik Talkin, as well as several other picture books, including Patience, Patches! by Christy Mihaly, My Love for You and Hand in Hand (both published by Simon & Schuster), and Library Girl: How Nancy Pearl Became America’s Most Celebrated Librarian by Karen Henry Clark. Her work has appeared on the cover of BABYBUG magazine and in multiple children’s titles noted for their warm, expressive, and character-driven illustrations.
