Sierra Crane Murdoch

Sierra Crane Murdoch is a journalist and essayist whose work focuses primarily on communities in the American West. Her first book, Yellow Bird: Oil, Murder, and a Woman’s Search for Justice in Indian Country, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, was nominated for the Edgar Award, and won the Oregon Book Award.

Murdoch has written for Harper’s, This American Life, The Atlantic, The New Yorker online, VQR, and High Country News. She has received fellowships from Middlebury College and the Investigative Reporting Program at the University of California, Berkeley, and she has also been a MacDowell Fellow.
