Sonny Magana
Dr. Anthony J. “Sonny” Magana III is an award-winning educator, best-selling author, and pioneering educational technology researcher whose work focuses on innovation in teaching and meta-learning. He has more than three decades of experience transforming learning systems around the world and is recognized as an Oxford research scholar, Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award recipient, and Governor’s Commendation for Educational Excellence honoree. Magana holds a Bachelor of Science from Stockton University, a Master of Education from City University – where he received the Presidential Award for meritorious scholarship – an educational administration endorsement, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Seattle University.
Magana is the author of Learning in the Zone: The 7 Habits of Meta-Learners, which introduces meta-learning as a foundational literacy for twenty-first-century education, and Disruptive Classroom Technologies: A Framework for Innovation in Education. His first book, Enhancing the Art and Science of Teaching with Technology, co-authored with Robert J. Marzano, achieved international acclaim. In addition to his writing, he developed the T3 Framework for Innovation, founded and led Washington State’s first CyberSchool, a blended learning program for at-risk students, and is a sought-after keynote speaker, leadership consultant, and instructional coach.
