Stacey Shubitz
Stacey Shubitz is an author, certified literacy specialist, and K–6 literacy consultant who focuses on writing instruction and special education advocacy. A former elementary school teacher, she taught fourth and fifth grade in New York City and in a public charter school in Rhode Island before beginning her work as an independent literacy consultant in 2009. She is the cofounder, Chief of Operations, and lead writer of the Two Writing Teachers blog and podcast, where she has been supporting teachers of writing since 2007. Shubitz has also served as an adjunct professor, teaching graduate courses at Lesley University and Penn State–Harrisburg. She holds an M.A. in Literacy Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an M.S.Ed. in Childhood Education from Hunter College, City University of New York. She lives with her family in Pennsylvania.
Shubitz is the author of Craft Moves: Lesson Sets for Teaching Writing with Mentor Texts and the coauthor of Welcome to Writing Workshop: Engaging Today’s Students with a Model that Works.
