Stepan Mekhitarian
Stepan Mekhitarian is an educator and author specializing in blended learning, instructional innovation, and educational technology. He is the author of The Essential Blended Learning PD Planner: Where Classroom Practice Meets Distance Learning (Corwin Teaching Essentials, 2021), which provides a framework to help schools design effective blended learning programs that build on skills developed during pandemic-era remote instruction. His work draws on doctoral research focused on the training and competencies needed to implement blended learning across schools and systems.
Mekhitarian has held leadership roles in K–12 districts, including serving as director (and previously interim director) of innovation, instruction, assessment, and accountability for Glendale Unified School District in California, and earlier as coordinator of data and blended learning for Los Angeles Unified School District. He is recognized as a Google-certified trainer, Microsoft Innovative Educator, and Blended Learning Universe expert adviser, and is a regular speaker at the California Assessment Conference. In addition to his Corwin book, he has authored work for education outlets such as Education Week on topics including laptop integration and classroom monitoring tools.
