Stephen Briseno

Stephen Briseño is a middle school English teacher, writing consultant, and award-winning picture book author based in San Antonio, Texas. His debut picture book, The Notebook Keeper: A Story of Kindness from the Border, won a Pura Belpré Honor and was named a 2023 Notable Children’s Book by the American Library Association.

He is also the coauthor of Text Structures From Picture Books: Lessons to Ease Students Into Text Analysis, Reading Response, and Writing With Craft, Grades 2–8, written with Kayla Briseño and Gretchen Bernabei. According to his author bio, he has taught middle school English for 15 years, writes for children, and lives in San Antonio with his wife and daughter.
