Stephen Chiger
Stephen Chiger is a literacy leader and educator who serves as Senior Director of 5–12 Humanities at Uncommon Schools. He taught high school English and journalism for more than a decade in New Jersey and was named 2015 Educator of the Year by the New Jersey Council of Teachers of English. He has also served as president of the Garden State Scholastic Press Association and co-director of the Hugh N. Boyd Journalism Diversity Workshop.
Chiger is the co-author of _Love & Literacy: A Practical Guide to Finding the Magic in Literature (Grades 5–12)_ with Paul Bambrick-Santoyo. He also co-authored _Gram and Gran Save the Summer_, a media-literacy mystery for younger readers. He holds a B.A. in English from Lafayette College, an M.S.J. in Journalism from Northwestern University, and an Ed.M. in Educational Leadership from Columbia University.
