Stephen G. Barkley
Stephen G. Barkley (often published as Steve Barkley) is an educator and professional learning consultant who has worked with teachers and school leaders for more than three decades to build coaching-focused programs that promote educator growth for increased student achievement. He has served as Executive Vice President of Performance Learning Systems, where he has supported schools internationally in developing cultures of coaching and collaboration.
Barkley is the author of several influential books on instructional coaching and professional learning, including Quality Teaching in a Culture of Coaching and Instructional Coaching with the End in Mind, both co‑developed with contributing editor Terri Bianco. His other works include Questions for Life: Powerful Strategies to Guide Critical Thinking, Tapping Student Effort: Increasing Student Achievement, and WOW! Adding Pizzazz to Teaching and Learning. In addition to his books, he writes and speaks extensively on peer coaching, principal–coach partnerships, and building sustained coaching cultures in schools.
