Stuart Gibbs is an American author of mystery and humor novels for middle-grade readers and young teens, best known for several New York Times bestselling series, including Spy School, FunJungle, Moon Base Alpha, Charlie Thorne, The Last Musketeer, and Once Upon a Tim. Born in Philadelphia in 1969, he grew up in Washington, D.C. and San Antonio, Texas, later studying biology and psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. Before turning to middle-grade fiction, Gibbs worked as a screenwriter and in television development, contributing to films such as Showdown, See Spot Run, and Repli-Kate, and working on projects for major studios and networks.
Gibbs is the creator of the Once Upon a Tim chapter book series, which launched with Once Upon a Tim in 2022 and continued with The Labyrinth of Doom the same year. Across his series, his work is consistently described as fast-paced, funny, and entertaining, blending mystery, adventure, and humor for young readers. He has also written a Batman graphic novel, Bruce Wayne: Not Super, and lives in Los Angeles with his family.
