Susan Vincent

Susan Vincent is a literacy educator with more than 30 years of experience working with emergent readers as a classroom teacher, Reading Recovery teacher, Reading Recovery teacher leader, reading specialist, and literacy coach. She teaches in the Department of Teacher Education at Miami University in Ohio, where she serves as a visiting instructor.

Vincent is the co-author, with Carolyn Helmers, of Intentional from the Start: Guiding Emergent Readers in Small Groups, a professional text that focuses on supporting Pre-A to Level D readers through small-group guided reading, writing, and word study. Her work and interviews emphasize early literacy, Reading Recovery, and practical guidance for teachers working with young children at the beginning stages of reading development.
