Susan Wojciechowski

Susan Wojciechowski is an American author of children’s books, best known for the picture book The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, first published in 1995 and illustrated by P. J. Lynch. She was born in Rochester, New York, and studied to become a teacher at Nazareth College of Rochester before later working for many years as a children’s librarian. Her breakthrough Christmas story has received multiple honors, including the Christopher Award and the Kate Greenaway Medal, and was adapted into a feature film; it also became a finalist for a National Book Award.

In addition to The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, Wojciechowski has written several other books for young readers, including the middle-grade novel Beany (Not Beanhead)! and its sequels Beany and the Magic Crystal, Beany and the Dreaded Wedding, Beany Goes to Camp, and Beany and the Meany, some of which have received Parents’ Choice Gold Awards. A native of Rochester, she has been described as living in Pennsylvania with her husband.
