Suzanne Selfors

Suzanne Selfors is a national bestselling author of children’s and middle-grade fiction who has written more than thirty books for young readers, including the humorous Wedgie & Gizmo series about a superhero corgi and an evil-genius guinea pig. Born in Munich, Germany in 1963 and raised primarily on Bainbridge Island, Washington, she attended Bennington College, earned a B.A. in Theatre/Film Studies from Occidental College (cum laude, with honors), and later completed an M.A. in Communications from the University of Washington (cum laude). Her body of work includes titles such as To Catch a Mermaid, Saving Juliet, Fortune’s Magic Farm, Coffeehouse Angel, the Ever After High School Stories, and the Spirit Riding Free series.

Selfors began pursuing writing seriously around 2002, after her youngest child started school, and sold her first children’s book, To Catch a Mermaid, in 2005, which was published in 2007. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked in a range of jobs including television-station sales assistant, marketing director, children’s photographer, video producer, and organic flower grower. She lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle and, as of early 2020, is also the owner of Liberty Bay
