Suzy Koontz
Suzy Koontz is an actuary, educational consultant, former math teacher, and author, best known as the creator and founder of the Math & Movement program, a kinesthetic, multi-sensory approach to teaching mathematics that integrates physical exercise, stretching, cross-body movements, and visually engaging floor mats to support visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. She is a founding board member and current vice president of the National Math Foundation (NMF) and has spent more than 25 years helping students achieve academic success through movement-based mathematics and literacy education.
Koontz has authored over 20 books and created more than 200 teaching tools focused on movement-based learning, and she actively leads professional development workshops for teachers and administrators across the United States. She is the coauthor, with Kirby Schoephoerster, of Activate Math!: Using Movement to Spark Engagement and Ignite Learning, which brings together research and classroom experience to help K–8 educators integrate movement into mathematics instruction.
