Teresa D Hill

Teresa D. Hill, EdD, is an educational leader with more than 25 years of experience working with students, educators, and school leaders. She has served as superintendent of schools in South Holland, Illinois, since 2012, following earlier roles as assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Hill is a practitioner with experience as both a teacher and leader in diverse schools and has focused her work on examining the structures, messages, attitudes, and beliefs in schools that contribute to achievement gaps for African American, Latino, and low-income students.

Hill is the author of The Instructional Leader’s Guide to Closing Achievement Gaps: Five Keys for Improving Student Outcomes (ASCD, 2024), a practical guide for K–12 instructional leaders that organizes tools and strategies around five key areas: meaningful assessment, language and literacy, experience and exposure, consolidation of knowledge, and perfect practice.
