Terri Beeler

Terri Beeler, Ed.D., is an educator with more than 20 years of experience in teaching and administration, specializing in early literacy development, particularly phonemic awareness and guided reading. She has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban Education at the University of Houston–Downtown, where she helped coordinate a fully field-based teacher education program working with both preservice and in-service teachers in K–12 classrooms.

Beeler is a co-author of the widely cited curriculum Phonemic Awareness in Young Children: A Classroom Curriculum (Paul H. Brookes Publishing, 1998), developed with Marilyn Jager Adams, Barbara Foorman, and Ingvar Lundberg. She has also authored I Can Read, I Can Write: Creating a Print-Rich Environment (Creative Teaching Press, 1993), and has served as co-editor of State of Reading, the journal of the Texas State Reading Association.
