Terry Thompson

Terry Thompson is an author, teacher, and literacy consultant based in San Antonio, Texas, known for his work helping educators support developing readers and writers. He has served as a reading interventionist, classroom teacher, basic skills teacher, Reading Recovery teacher, and literacy coach, and he provides staff development for teachers of readers and writers in grades K–8 across the United States. Thompson holds a master’s degree in psychotherapy and cognitive coaching.

He is the author of Adventures in Graphica: Using Comics and Graphic Novels to Teach Comprehension, 2–6 and The Construction Zone: Building Scaffolds for Readers and Writers, both published by Stenhouse. In addition to his books, Thompson writes and consults on topics such as scaffolding instruction and the use of comics and graphic novels as engaging texts for developing readers.
