Thomas R. Verny

Thomas R. Verny, M.D., is a clinical psychiatrist, academic, author, and poet. He has taught at Harvard University, the University of Toronto, York University, and St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. In 1983, he founded the Pre- and Perinatal Psychology Association of North America, now the Association for Pre- and Perinatal Psychology and Health, and served as its president for eight years.

Verny is the author of Your Self-Motivated Baby, as well as Inside Groups, The Secret Life of the Unborn Child, Parenting Your Unborn Child, Nurturing the Unborn Child, Tomorrow’s Baby, Pre-Parenting, and The Embodied Mind. His work includes eight books and dozens of scientific papers, with The Secret Life of the Unborn Child published internationally.
