Thomas Toch

Thomas Toch is the founding director of FutureEd, an independent education think tank at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy. He previously served as a senior partner at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, co-founded and co-directed Education Sector, was a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution, and taught at Harvard Graduate School of Education. He also helped launch Education Week and served as its co-managing editor, following earlier work as a writer and editor at U.S. News & World Report.

Toch is the author of High Schools on a Human Scale: How Small Schools Can Transform American Education and In the Name of Excellence: The Struggle to Reform the Nation’s Schools, Why It’s Failing, and What Should Be Done.
