Timothy Rasinski
Timothy Rasinski is a professor emeritus of literacy education at Kent State University, where he previously directed the university’s award‑winning Reading and Writing Center/reading clinic for struggling readers. A leading expert on reading fluency, word study, and literacy in the elementary and middle grades, he has published over 200 articles and more than 50 books or curriculum programs on reading education, and his work has been cited by the National Reading Panel and in major journals such as Reading Research Quarterly and The Reading Teacher. His bestselling titles include The Fluent Reader and The Fluent Reader in Action, and he has coauthored numerous classroom resources and professional books, including series and programs on Greek and Latin roots, vocabulary development, idioms, and close reading.
Rasinski’s professional service includes a term on the Board of Directors of the International Reading Association, co‑editing The Reading Teacher and the Journal of Literacy Research, and serving as president of the College Reading Association. He has been recognized with the A. B. Herr and Laureate Awards from the College Reading Association and was elected to the **International Reading Hall of Fame
