Tom Romano

Tom Romano is an American educator and writer known for his influential work on teaching writing and multigenre composition. He teaches in Oxford, Ohio, where he serves as the Heckert Professor of Literacy in the Department of Teacher Education, offering courses in writing, the teaching of writing, and English Language Arts methods. Over a career spanning both high school and university classrooms, Romano has become a prominent advocate for multigenre writing, presenting on the approach at conferences and shaping classroom practice through his books and workshops.

Romano is the author of multiple books on writing and writing instruction, including Fearless Writing: Multigenre to Motivate and Inspire (2013) and Write What Matters: For Yourself, For Others. His earlier and related works on teaching writing include Clearing the Way: Working with Teenage Writers and Blending Genre, Altering Style, as well as a memoir, Zigzag: A Life in Reading and Writing, Teaching and Learning.
