Trent Kaufman
Trent E. Kaufman, Ed.D., is an education consultant and author known for his work on using performance data to improve teaching and learning. He founded the school reform consultancy Education Direction, later acquired by Cicero Group, where he went on to serve in senior leadership roles including CEO. Kaufman’s background includes experience as a social studies teacher in Washington, D.C., and as a high school principal in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Kaufman is the co-author of The Transparent Teacher: Taking Charge of Your Instruction with Peer-Collected Classroom Data (Jossey-Bass/Wiley, 2013), written with Emily Dolci Grimm, which introduces the Teacher-Driven Observation model to help educators use peer-collected classroom data to refine instruction. He is also co-author of Collaborative School Improvement: Eight Practices for District-School Partnerships to Transform Teaching and Learning, further extending his focus on evidence-based school reform and district–school collaboration.
