Trynia Kaufman

Trynia Kaufman is an author, speaker, and instructional designer specializing in brain-based learning strategies, trauma‑informed teaching, and disability inclusion. She is the author of Overcoming the School Trauma Cycle: Academic and Emotional Supports for Struggling Learners (Corwin, 2024). Kaufman holds a Master of Science in neuroscience and education from Teachers College, Columbia University, a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University, and a special education teaching certificate from Pima Community College.

Kaufman is a technical assistance associate at Cornell University’s Yang Tan Institute on Employment and Disability, where she develops and facilitates professional development and coaching for education specialists with the New York State Education Department Office of Special Education. Previously, she has worked as a special education teacher, educational research manager, and director of a college and career access program for youth in foster care, and has served as senior manager of editorial research at Understood, writing and presenting nationally on education and learning differences.
