Undarmaa Maamuujav

Undarmaa Maamuujav is a lecturer in the College of Education at Butler University, Indianapolis, and a former research scientist in the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine. She received her Ph.D. in education from UC Irvine, with a specialization in teaching, learning, and educational improvement, and her research focuses on language, literacy, academic writing, and disciplinary literacy development for linguistically diverse students at the secondary and postsecondary levels. Maamuujav has taught composition, writing, and language development courses at the University of California, Irvine and California State University, Los Angeles, and has over two decades of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses focused on writing and literacy.

Her scholarship includes coauthoring Academic Languaging and Historical Thinking: Cultivating Students' Language Skills for Argument Writing (University of Michigan Press, 2026) and serving as an associate editor of Writing Instruction Across the Disciplines: Evidence-Based Practices in Grades 6–12. She has also published on topics such as academic English and antiracist language pedagogy, multimodal writing, and the use of infographics to scaffold second-language writing development.
