V. Susan Bennett-Armistead

V. Susan Bennett-Armistead is an early literacy scholar and educator whose work focuses on language and literacy development in young children from birth through early elementary school. She is an associate professor of literacy at the University of Maine’s College of Education and Human Development, where her research examines early language and literacy acquisition, literacy instruction in Pre-K and kindergarten, family literacy, and teacher induction through professional development schools. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum, Teacher Education and Policy with an emphasis in Literacy and a B.S. in Child Development and Elementary Education, both from Michigan State University.

Bennett-Armistead is the author of _Literacy and the Youngest Learner: Best Practices for Educators of Children from Birth to 5_, co‑written with Nell K. Duke and Annie M. Moses, which provides research-based guidance for educators working with children from birth to age five.
