Valentina Gonzalez

Valentina Gonzalez is an educational consultant and founder of Rooted Linguistics LLC, specializing in support for multilingual learners and their families. A former classroom teacher with over 20 years of experience, she has also served as a district facilitator and professional development specialist for English learners, focusing her work on literacy, culture, and language. An immigrant from Yugoslavia and a former language learner herself, she draws on her personal experiences to advocate for emergent bilingual students and to help educators implement effective sheltered instruction strategies.

Gonzalez is the author of Equitable Instruction for English Learners in the Content Areas: How to Support Students’ Academic Success in K-8 Classrooms and coauthor of Welcome to Teaching Multilingual Learners!: An Illustrated Guide, as well as Reading & Writing with English Learners: A Framework for K-5 and the children’s picture book Krofne with Baba. She also creates widely used infographics and resources for educators of multilingual learners and contributes professional learning content through her consulting and writing.
