Valerie Bang-Jensen
Valerie Bang-Jensen is Professor of Education, Emerita, at Saint Michael’s College and has also served as a consultant for museums, libraries, schools, and gardens for children. Her academic background includes an A.B. from Smith College and M.A., M.Ed., and Ed.D. degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has taught in K–6 classrooms and library programs in public and independent schools in the United States and Paris and was the district elementary writing coordinator in Ithaca, New York.
Her published work includes _Literacy Moves Outdoors: Learning Approaches for Any Environment_ (2023), which she wrote on bringing literacy instruction into outdoor settings. She has also co-authored _Sharing Books, Talking Science: Exploring Scientific Concepts with Children’s Literature_ with Mark Lubkowitz.
