Victoria L. Bernhardt

Victoria L. Bernhardt is an American educator and researcher specializing in data-informed school improvement. She is the executive director of the Education for the Future Initiative, an organization focused on building the capacity of learning organizations to gather, analyze, and use data to continuously improve learning for all students. She is also a professor emeritus in the College of Communication and Education at California State University, Chico, where she served on the faculty beginning in 1986 and held roles including inaugural director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Education. Bernhardt earned her PhD in Educational Psychology Research and Measurement, with a minor in Mathematics, from the University of Oregon, and holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in statistics and psychology from Iowa State University.

Bernhardt has worked for more than 25 years with schools, districts, and education systems around the world on program evaluation, systemic improvement, and comprehensive data analysis. She is the author or coauthor of more than 20 books on data use and continuous school improvement, including Measuring What We Do in Schools: How to Know If What We Are Doing Is Making a Difference and the widely recognized Data Analysis for Continuous School Improvement.
