Wendy Sparrow

Wendy Sparrow is a research associate at the University of Colorado Boulder and a director of the Literacy Squared Project, an initiative focused on improving biliteracy outcomes for emerging bilingual children. Her work centers on bilingualism and biliteracy development in Spanish-speaking children, and she was part of the original core team that helped develop and study the Literacy Squared model beginning in the mid-2000s.

Sparrow is a coauthor of _Biliteracy from the Start: Literacy Squared in Action_ (Caslon, 2014), written with Kathy Escamilla, Susan Hopewell, Sandra Butvilofsky, Lucinda Soltero-González, Olivia Ruiz-Figueroa, and Manuel Escamilla. She has also contributed to related research on paired literacy programs and biliteracy outcomes for emerging bilingual students, with her work appearing in peer‑reviewed educational journals.
