Wendy Ward Hoffer
Wendy Ward Hoffer is an educator and author specializing in mathematics and science teaching, and serves as Senior Director of Content Development and Publications for the Denver-based Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC). She designs and facilitates professional learning for educators nationwide and is the creator or co-creator of several PEBC institutes focused on math, science, STEM identity, and numeracy. Hoffer earned an MA in Science Education from Stanford University and achieved National Board Certification while teaching middle school math and science in Denver Public Schools.
She is the author of multiple professional books for educators, including Minds on Mathematics: Using Math Workshop to Develop Deep Understanding in Grades 4–8, Phenomenal Teaching: A Guide for Reflection and Growth, and All Minds on Mathematics: Math Workshop for Every Learner. Her additional works on teaching for understanding in math and science include Science as Thinking: The Constants and Variables of Inquiry Teaching, Cultivating STEM Identities: Strengthening Student and Teacher Mindsets in Math and Science, and Developing Literate Mathematicians: A Guide for Integrating Language and Literacy Instruction into Secondary Mathematics.
