William Byham

William C. Byham, Ph.D., is an industrial and organizational psychologist and co-founder of Development Dimensions International (DDI), which he established with Douglas W. Bray in 1970. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Ohio University and a doctorate in industrial-organizational psychology from Purdue University. Byham has worked in executive assessment, leadership development, and succession management, and serves as DDI’s executive chairman.

Byham has authored or co-authored numerous books on leadership, employee empowerment, teams, and assessment centers. His works include Zapp! The Lightning of Empowerment, Empowered Teams, Grow Your Own Leaders, and ZAPP! in Education: How Empowerment Can Improve the Quality of Instruction, and Student and Teacher Satisfaction.
