William H. Parrett

William H. Parrett is an educator and author recognized internationally for his work on school improvement for children and adolescents living in poverty. He is Director Emeritus and former Director of the Center for School Improvement and Policy Studies and a Professor of Education at Boise State University, roles in which he coordinated substantial funded projects and reform initiatives focused on raising achievement for less advantaged students. Parrett holds a Ph.D. in Secondary Education from Indiana University and has also served on the faculties of Indiana University and the University of Alaska.

Parrett has coauthored numerous books on effective schooling for youth at risk and in high-poverty contexts, including Disrupting Poverty: Five Powerful Classroom Practices and Turning High-Poverty Schools into High-Performing Schools (including its second edition), both written with Kathleen M. Budge.
