Jeff Anderson is a veteran educator, author, and workshop facilitator whose mission is to bring writers and teachers into a meaningful conversation with grammar, revision, and writing craft. For over three decades, he has contributed to the field by developing resources that don’t just correct mistakes—they invite writers to understand why language works.
Before becoming a full-time author and presenter, Anderson spent years in the classroom where he observed that students who struggled with writing were rarely helped by endless correction—they needed invitation, possibility, and models of what strong writing can do. This insight led to his signature belief: grammar activates meaning for readers and writers.
He is based in San Antonio, Texas, where he continues to deliver staff development, conferences, and coaching sessions for teachers across the U.S. and sometimes internationally (yes, New Zealand too!). In addition to writing for teachers and administrators, Anderson writes middle-grade fiction, particularly the Zack Delacruz series, capturing the humor, awkwardness, and growth of adolescence.
His professional-book list includes influential titles such as
10 Things Every Writer Needs to Know (2011, Stenhouse)
Revision Decisions: Talking Through Sentences and Beyond (2014, Stenhouse)
Patterns of Power, Teaching Grammar Through Reading and Writing, Grades 9–12 (2022, Stenhouse)
Mechanically Inclined: Building Grammar, Usage, and Style into Writer's Workshop (2024, Stenhouse)
