Alysia D. Roehrig

Alysia D. Roehrig, PhD, is a professor of educational psychology and chair of the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems in the Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at Florida State University. She earned both her M.A. and Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Notre Dame, where her early work focused on the development of beginning teachers. A Fellow of the American Psychological Association, her research centers on effective teaching, teacher quality, and the literacy learning and motivation of students who are traditionally underserved or labeled at risk for school failure.

Roehrig is coauthor of several works on teaching and educational psychology, including Educational Psychology (with John W. Santrock) and No More Sharpening Pencils During Work Time and Other Time Wasters, part of the Not This, But That series edited by Nell K. Duke and Ellin Oliver Keene. She has published widely in journals such as The Elementary School Journal, Journal of Literacy Research, Science, and The Teacher Educator, and has served on the editorial boards of Journal of Educational Psychology and Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment.
